Great design delivers something larger than itself. It communicates, educates, and invokes emotion. That belief has guided every decision I've made across more than 20 years leading brand, identity, and creative direction for cultural institutions, media, and mission-driven organizations.
As the first Creative Director at George Washington's Mount Vernon, I built the creative function from the ground up, developing brand systems, directing integrated campaigns, and stewarding the visual identity of one of the most significant historic sites in the country. It was the great honor of my career. Working at the intersection of history, legacy, and contemporary design, I held myself to an exacting standard, protecting the integrity of the brand while elevating its historic relevance for audiences today.
I lead teams, mentor junior staff, and enjoy doing the work. I believe the best creative directors stay close enough to the design to know when something is right and why. Over the course of my career I've directed editorial, built identity systems, rebranded a Presidential Library, and taught graduate students how to think critically about design. The through line in all of it is a genuine love for the work itself.
I'm based in the Washington DC area and actively seeking my next opportunity as a Creative Director, Art Director, or Senior Designer. I bring the vision, the talent, and the eye for design. If that is what you are looking for, let's talk.
